My First Spray Tan Experience With Hot Girl Glow
Hello to all! Welcome back to another The Leslie Life post. Today, I am going to be talking to y’all about my first-time experience of getting a spray tan!
As I write this, we are in the midst of a pandemic. I hope that seeing something lighthearted and fun like this will take your mind off of it even if it’s just for a few minutes. There’s a lot of craziness happening right now but hopefully, we are in for a radiant summer. Now, let’s talk spray tans!
In February, I was contacted by Marie who runs Hot Girl Glow, an in-studio/mobile spray tanning service out of Cudahy ( a very small city in LA). She asked if I had ever gotten a spray tan and when I said no, she said she’d be happy to do my first one!
A few weeks later, I headed to MAKEUP PARADISE, a beauty store where Marie’s spray tan studio is located. Marie and I had been in contact through text to make an appointment.
Here’s how the process was like:
The day before my spray tan, I followed these prep instructions that Marie had given me from her website. I shaved and exfoliated the night before, and when I woke up to drive to my appointment, I made sure to wear loose clothing. I also did not put on any deodorant or makeup as these can act as barriers to the spray tan.
I arrived bright and early at MAKEUP PARADISE. There’s plenty of parking in the shopping center it’s located in, which is always a plus! Once I walked into the store, I saw the spray tanning booth all the way in the back.
I was graciously greeted by Marie and we got down to business! I filled out a waiver form and she asked what kind of color I was going for. I told her a very light glow.
I decided to only spray tan my body because if I did my face, I could not wear makeup until night time. This would usually not be a problem except, I had plans during the day, so I went with just my body.
My fear of spray tans is that I would look orange. However, after seeing photos of Marie’s other clients on Instagram, I knew she would not make me look like a 2009 Snooki. As she mixed the tanning solution, she directed me to a shelf (pictured below) where I could place my belongings and grab anything I needed.
Marie provides you with hair ties, disposable thongs, hairnets, and disposable flip flops. Women may spray tan however they feel comfortable however, I did end up using the pasties and a disposable thong.
After she mixed the solution, it was time for the spray tan itself! I got into the small tent seen below, and Marie placed lotion on my fingers and toes so they would not be stained. She then instructed me on what to do so she could spray tan my entire body. As you can see, there’s also seating in case you bring your friends or significant other.
After only a few minutes, Marie was done! To finish the spray tan, she dusted me with finishing powder and wiped some of the excess lotion off my hands. She informed to not shower anytime soon and to rinse off in 8 hours in lukewarm water without using body wash.
I changed back into my clothes and after taking off the pasties and disposable thong, I realized how pale I was and how natural and amazing the spray tan looked!
Before heading out, Marie handed me a bottle that had my leftover custom tanner. She told me I could use it as a touch-up or even for my face if I wanted to try it. She also explained that the tan should fade within 7-10 days.
Final thoughts:
Overall, my first spray tan experience was great! Everything was very clean and Marie was kind and very attentive. Even though I was basically naked, she made me feel very comfortable.
Before even coming in, she texted me a few times to explain everything and even offered to call me. She also made a story on Instagram for first-time spray tanners to explain the experience.
The whole thing took 30 minutes. It took me longer to drive to Cudahy than it did to get spray tanned. That being said, Marie does offer mobile spray tan services which could be a more convenient option for the future.
The fear of turning orange and high prices always swayed me away from trying out a spray tan. However, Marie made sure to give me a color that suited my skin tone and listened to what I wanted. Prices are also affordable and range anywhere from $20-$65.
