Visiting the Cultural Heritage Candle Company

Visiting the Cultural Heritage Candle Company

To my witchy readers, this blog post is dedicated to you all! This past weekend, I visited a local business in Los Angeles that is spiritual heaven.

It’s called the Cultural Heritage Candle Company and I’m going to be telling you, my dear readers, all about it. I had never heard about this place until my cousin Yanny suggested we go.

I'm not sure how she found out about it (maybe TikTok?) but nonetheless, we decided to check it out and brought our friend Max along. Both Yanny and I are very much into spirituality and being baby witches.

If we’re being completely honest, I don’t know much about “brujeria”. What I will say, is that we are powerful beings made of energy and we all have the power within us to manifest our desires and to live our life with positive intention.

Both Yanny and I come from Mexican families, which tend to be both spiritual and religious. So in many ways, this is both a cultural and personal experience for us. But I digress, let’s dive into the store itself.

The Cultural Heritage Company is located at 236 W Manchester Ave, Los Angeles. I could be incorrect so forgive me if I’m wrong, but this is an area known as Huntington Park.

The store is located in a very nondescript warehouse building and can easily be missed. They have their own parking lot which is always a plus to me (especially in Los Angeles!).

My first reaction walking in was my surprise at how spacious this place is. If you’ve been to any metaphysical store or botanica, then you know they tend to be well-stocked but relatively small in size.

I came for the candles but they have so much more than that. This place has several aisles full of items and provides baskets and shopping carts for your convenience. We decided to walk each aisle to see what we could find.

They have perfumes (seen above), oils, bath salts, soaps, books, and more. I’ve never used any of these items, but I found them very intriguing.

They have items for every situation or desire you can think of. I saw several for love, attracting money, breaking up couples, becoming a dominant person, and so much more.

Something I didn’t know they sold (and don’t really know why they sell), are scented candles from a brand called Wolf and Lamb. I am familiar with them because I actually buy their candles at T.J. Maxx.

They had a few aisles of these candles in various scents and I had to pick up my favorite rose petal candle. While I pay $8 or more for these at T.J. Maxx, they were only $2.50-$3 here!

You can also find religious items here and various prayer candles dedicated to saints and more.

I was particularly looking for a plain light blue prayer candle but alas, they were sold out. However, this colorful all-purpose candle (seen below) made up for it.

They also sell something called prepared candles. In other words, they are prayer candles that have been anointed and have a specific purpose.

These are a little pricer ($6 and up) and my cousin ended up getting one dedicated to court cases as she is going to court soon to fight a speeding ticket.

In the end, I left with three prayer candles, two scented Wolf & Lamb candles, and two bottles of Castor oil (which both my mom and I use on my eyebrows and eyelashes every night) and paid a total of $17.

I would say I found most prices to be incredibly reasonable. Each candle I bought was less than $5. I usually buy white prayer candles from my local Dollar Tree but sometimes, they are completely sold out. Thus, I don’t mind spending a little more to get a colorful candle and giving my business to a locally-owned store.

The Cultural Heritage Candle Company is open Monday-Friday from 8 am to 4 pm and on Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm. They are closed Sunday. For more information, check out their Yelp page!

If you aren’t in the Los Angeles area or simply can’t shop in-store, you can shop their site at WisdomProducts.com.

Please keep in mind that if you Google “Wisdom Products”, an address in Commerce pop up. This is the address to their manufacturing plant, not the Cultural Heritage Candle Company.
