Hiking through Discovery Park

Hiking through Discovery Park

Well hello there!

It’s been a long time, I know. I’ve been traveling, working, you know, all that sort of thing. But I am back, for now…

I recently returned to LA from a trip to the PNW (yes, another one). Instead of writing about everything that I did and ate, I’m going to focus on one excursion. As you can see by the title, I’m going to be discussing Discovery Park.

The last time I went to Seattle before this was in April. I had planned to go to Discovery Park but my friend Adam and I ran out of time. Thus, we made sure to prioritize it this trip.

So what’s so special about Discovery Park? According to The Seattle Times, the park is 534 acres and is known for its scenic views of Puget Sound. Discovery Park can be likened to a forest retreat in the city. Moreover, It’s located in a trendy neighborhood called Magnolia.

I also want to mention that visiting the park is free and there is plenty of public parking

On a crisp Sunday evening, Adam and I took the long bus ride to Discovery Park. When we got there, there were quite a bit of people around. We decided to hike down to the beach to view the sunset.

Adam and I walked through the forest as the sun was going down. When we made it to the beach, I was swept away by the views. They were gorgeous and as someone who lives by the beach, they also felt familiar to me.

The air was crisp, I had my best friend by my side, and I had eaten fish tacos earlier. In other words, I felt pretty good. Adam and I walked around the beach and checked out the West Point Lighthouse while the sun made its exit for the day.

Leaving, however, was another story. Adam and I quickly realized we were the only ones in the park. We had to hike back through the forest to find a bus in the dark. Luckily, we had our iPhones and used our flashlights to get around.

Adam said he was scared and I almost walked into a spiderweb with a massive spider in it but we eventually made it to our bus stop safe and sound.

My one regret about my visit is that I did not get to walk around Magnolia (it was too late and too dark). We were also exhausted and when we got back to Adam’s house in Capitol Hill, we quickly fell asleep.

Discovery Park is located at 3801 Discovery Park Blvd, Seattle, WA 98199. To see more of the trip to Seattle, check out my TikTok below.
