My Day in Downtown LA
The thing about Downtown LA is that you either love it or hate it. Personally, I hate it most of the time but sometimes you gotta bite the bullet and go. Recently, my friend Jesse, his dog Mochi, and I decided to have a day in DTLA. Here’s what we did!
Lunch at Grand Central Market
Listen y’all, the food at Grand Central Market is good but the environment in there is HECTIC. I was fighting for my life every second I was in there. I decided to make the best of the situation and chose to try my first ever pupusa for lunch.
Saritas Pupuseria had a long line (as seen above) and I was told my food was going to take 30 minutes. That’s how I knew it was going to be good. All told, I found it to be very affordable. You can easily spend $20-$30 on a meal at Grand Central.
A carne asada pupusa, a coke, and fried plantains cost me less than $13. It was, as expected, pretty fire. This is a no-frills type of eatery and the guy who took my order practically yelled at me for not speaking loud enough. However, it was worth it.
A trip to Elysian Park
In my 25 years of living in Los Angeles, I had never been to Elysian Park until now. According to the Echo Park Historical Society, this is the oldest park in LA! This park is huge; It just went on and on. Jesse drove around the hills and we stopped to walk Mochi and explore.
Eventually, we got to this viewpoint called “Angels Point” (plug into Google Maps and it will come up). You can see the skyline of Downtown and Dodgers Stadium. We sat on the grass and chatted a bit before we headed to our last destination.
