Hi!

The Leslie Life is a blog dedicated to living in Los Angeles and travel. Enjoy!

What To Expect at the Melrose Trading Post

What To Expect at the Melrose Trading Post

Growing up, my family and I would go to the local swap meet called The Roadium. Since then, I’ve had a pension for open-air markets as they are the perfect place to find treasures!

A popular one I’ve written about is the Long Beach Antique Market. However, that particular one is only once a month. Luckily, I will be discussing the Melrose Trading Post, which is open weekly.

I recently headed to the trading post with my good friend Ash. She lives nearby and we decided it would be a great way to catch up. In one word, the Melrose Trading Post is trendy. It’s not your typical swap meet and it’s very, and I mean very, LA.

Located at Fairfax High School, it’s open every Sunday from 9 am-5 pm. What can one expect to discover at the Melrose Trading Post? Read on below to find out.

  • Vintage postcards

This particular vendor was selling vintage postcards from all over California. Ash ended up purchasing a few for less than $10! I sadly did not find any from my hometown of Redondo Beach. Perhaps I’ll have better luck next time.

  • Plants and pottery

Although we ourselves did not purchase plants, I wanted to share that the Trading Post has a few vendors specializing in plants and artisan pottery. This is perfect for all you plant parents out there, especially if you’re looking for a special piece.

  • Books

As you all may or may not know, I read and buy a lot of books. Like any good addict, I’m always looking for more. I saw both antique and lesser-used books at the trading post but nothing caught my eye. Nonetheless, I do think this is a good place to find classics.

  • Los Angeles memorabilia

If you’re on the hunt for artwork or any item that is LA or California-themed, this is the place to go! The photo above is of blankets and I saw countless other things that had California landmarks on them. Ash even purchased In and Out artwork (iconic tbh).

What you need to know to visit the Melrose Trading Post:

  • As I mentioned earlier, The Melrose Trading Post is open every Sunday from 9 am-5 pm

  • It’s located at 7850 Melrose Avenue

  • Tickets are $5 and can be purchased online or at the door (cash only)

  • Most vendors accept cards but prefer cash

  • Parking in the area is a DIASTER, my advice is to go as soon as they open to find a spot

  • If you need a cold drink or coffee after a hot day of shopping, my favorite place to go is Alfred Tea (pictured below)

XOXO
