Enjoy the Little Things in Life

Hello all! Today’s post is going to be relatively simple and short. I am still recovering from my small birthday getaway that I wrote about last week. It’s amazing how tired one can be after not being able to leave your home for so long.

Anyways, I wanted to write this as a small reminder, as the title states, to enjoy the little things in life. I am not going to get too much into what is happening in the world right now because most of us (I hope all of us) are very aware of it all.

I try not to dwell on it though, there’s not much one can do but accept that this is life now and what we knew to be “normal”, will never be again. However, this is not meant to sound negative or even defeated; it’s truly opened my eyes to not take things-anything for granted.

Of course, I already knew that before 2020, but this challenging year has opened my eyes to it even more. In an instant, things we never thought we wouldn’t have were taken away. I have touched on this before on some previous posts but I want to reiterate it as much as I can.

Cherish the moments you have with friends and loved ones. Even if you guys do nothing at all, take it all in and enjoy each others company. Over a month ago, one of my closest friends moved to Portland and one of the last things we did was eat ice cream in the back of her car and it’s been one of my greatest memories of 2020.

That being said, also enjoy the outdoors! It’s incredible how much I’ve learned to appreciate nature and its beauty during this time. I no longer feel drawn to big cities and want to visit small towns with a cottage-core vibe to them. I don’t think I realized how healing time outdoors can be even if it’s by yourself.

Also remember that if you look good, you will feel good. I’ve been focusing a lot on skincare during this time. I will say though that I miss doing my makeup everyday so sometimes, I do a full-face even though I work at home and don’t go out (and I wear a cute outfit).

Overall, be mindful. This is something I try to remind myself everyday, especially when I have bad anxiety. I do things like drink my morning tea slowly and at my leisure to enjoy it and be ready to focus on a full day of work. I also make sure my room is not cluttered in order to feel at ease in my surroundings.

Doing things like this make me feel good and help during times like this where everyday is unpredictable and feels scarier. I hope this post help some of you who feel on edge or uncertain feel better. Take some time for yourself and go outside and enjoy the little things in life.

XOXO
