How I celebrated Galentine's Day

Hello to all the readers and lovers out there! Happy Valentine’s Day and if you are like me and celebrated with friends, then happy Galentine’s Day!

Valentine’s Day is a holiday dedicated to romantic love. However, I believe all love should be celebrated. That’s why this year, I decided to plan a Galentine’s Day picnic with one of my closest friends, Sierra, and her younger sister Jasmine.

We kept things pretty simple and decided on having pizza and going to a local park. Of course, we couldn't just do any pizza; it had to be heart-shaped and from Fresh Brothers.

Ok, so this is a shameless plug for Fresh Brothers because it’s my favorite local chain. Not only was the pizza delicious and pretty inexpensive ($18) but, every time you buy one, they donate one to a frontline worker! What’s not to love about that?

P.S this is going on until February 28th. Even if you don’t get a heart-shaped pizza this Valentine’s Day, you can anytime for the next two weeks!

After picking up the pizza, we headed to a place called El Retiro Park. This lovely local park was Sierra’s idea. I used to come here a lot when I was younger. It has plenty of greenery and open space for a picnic. We set up, ate, and all three of us caught up.

We did this for a few hours before packing up and heading to an antique store for some quick window shopping.

Overall, it was a good day. It was simple but I enjoyed every minute with my friends. It also seems like a lot of people we’re more or less doing the same thing as us.

It was nice to see teens and young people sitting on a blanket talking and hanging out. It’s a different contrast from a pre-pandemic time where most of us (including myself) would probably be at the mall to celebrate Galentine’s day.

There’s nothing negative about going to the mall; my point is, people are enjoying the outdoors more and that makes me feel pretty good.

Before I go, I want to wish you all a Happy Valentine’s and Galentine’s Day. Even if you don’t have a special someone, celebrate with a loved one and forget about what you see on social media with extravagant gifting and all that.

Get yourself something nice or treat yourself to something sweet. I say this every year but remember to love yourself first; you’ll never be happy with someone if you’re not happy with yourself first!

Alright, guys, I’m going to go off and enjoy the rest of my day! Sending lots of love your way. Make sure to check out my TikTok below to see a quick snippet of my Galentine’s Day Picnic.

I also wrote a blog post for work about the History of Loveseats, so check that out as well!

XOXO
