What To Buy at Marshalls
Last week, I wrote about Trader Joe’s but this time, the focus is on Marshalls.
I hate to say it, but if you don’t like Marshalls, T.J Maxx, or Homegoods, there is something very wrong with you. If you’re not big on Marshalls, you’re missing out!
Below are some categories of items I think are worth your coin.
Personal care/ beauty tools:
Marshalls is my go-to when it comes to personal care accessories. I buy my reusable shower caps here for less than $8 and they last me for MONTHS, sometimes a year if I’m not careless.
They also carry packs of loofahs (seen above) for a very low price (again less than $8). I stock up and the price of the pack is what I use to pay for 1 loofah at Target. Besides these items, they carry so much more including hair wraps, facial headbands, eye masks, and pretty much anything you can dream of.
You can even find makeup brushes, including those from my favorite brand, Real Techniques, all at incredibly low prices.
Skincare & nailcare:
As you can see from the photo above, Marshalls carries name brand nail polishes below their usual price point. They also have nail clippers, files, press-on nails, and more. They also have a large array of skincare, a lot of it is even high-end.
I know people can be wary of the skincare being old but my solution to this is checking the expiration date. Almost all bottles have this somewhere. I will say the only thing I’m wary about is buying makeup from Marshalls. This is due to a lot of being opened and played with.
The skincare I find is less tampered with. I bought a 10 oz bottle of Evian Facial Spray for $8. The price for this is nearly $20 at ULTA so it’s definitely a steal!
Candles:
I’ve never understood why candles are so expensive ($30 or more!). As someone who loves candles and also goes through them pretty quickly, this was an unacceptable price point. Luckily, Marshalls sells candles anywhere from $4 to $13. I would say the average price is $6.99. If you want something luxurious like a Yankee Candle, it will be in the $13 price range.
Handbags/backpacks:
Marshalls is THE place to go if you are in need of a new purse or backpack. This aisle is usually pretty big and they also have a diverse range of colors and brands. Some are unknown but others are high-end, it all depends on how much you want to spend that day.
Conclusion:
I mentioned all my personal favorite things to get at Marshalls above. Some other things I recommend include houseware and activewear. Again, the only thing I’m not too sure about is the makeup.
I’ve heard that a lot of is expired but I could be completely wrong. The difference between skincare and makeup is that most skincare I find has an exact expiration date on the label (it will have a month/year). Makeup on the other hand does not. So, purchase at your own discretion! That being said, Marshalls is a great place to be bougie on a budget and I almost never leave empty-handed.
