Is BOXYCHARM Worth It?
Hello everyone! Welcome back to another lifestyle/beauty review. This time, it’s for BOXYCHARM, a monthly beauty & makeup box subscription.
Now that I have a bit of a disposable income, I’ve been purchasing things I’ve been meaning to try out. One of these things is a monthly beauty box. There are SEVERAL of these out there. In fact, I almost decided to get a Korean/Japanese beauty box thanks to Instagram ads.
However, after doing some research and inquiring with my beauty guru friend Brigitte, I decided to go with BOXYCHARM. It was my first time ever subscribing to one of these, and I am here to tell you if I think it’s worth it or not! Let’s get into the details~
THE SCOOP ON BOXYCHARM:
BOXYCHARM costs $25 monthly (around $27 with tax)
You can cancel your subscription anytime you want with 0 fees
You get 5 full sized beauty/makeup products with your order
If you are new to BOXYCHARM, you get to choose a free gift with your order (usually an eyeshadow palette or a skincare product)
The box is delivered in the middle of the month, however, you are charged for it in the beginning of each month
WHAT’S IN THE BOX:
Now that you know a little bit more about BOXYCHARM, let’s talk about what came in the February 2020 box! When I saw how big the box was, I was shook and really excited to see what was inside!
Without further ado, here’s what I got this month, my honest thoughts of each of the products, and the retail price of said products.
Little Briar Rose Storybook Palette, Storybook Cosmetics: $55- This was the gift I chose when I signed up for BOXYCHARM. I have heard of Storybook Cosmetics before and wow, I am completely blown away by their packaging and quality. The eyeshadows are GORGEOUS and unlike anything I have in my collection. These are very pigmented and I’ve been using the shade “Spindle” (the second shade on the top row) for work. It lasts through the entire day without fading!
Prep & Correcting Primer, PUR: $33- This primer has a pleasant coconut smell and claims to minimize pores and even out your skin tone. I personally found it to hydrate and smooth my skin. It felt really nice on the skin however, I don’t think it’s worth $33. Personally, I think there are several primers out there that can do the same thing for a fraction of the price. I will definitely keep using it though, I like how silky it feels on my skin!
Complexion Brush Trio, Alamar Cosmetics: $36- I have heard of Alamar Cosmetics before because they are Latina owned and operated (woo!!). These brushes are amazing and I think they might be my favorite item I received! In order below from left to right is the bronzer brush, brightening brush, and complexion brush. I used the bronzer brush to apply my tinted moisturizer and it worked beautifully. Although it is a “bronzer” brush, I liken it to a buffer brush. I applied setting powder with the brightening brush, and used the complexion brush for my blush. Again, they worked wonderfully and are incredibly soft. They are definitely worth $36!
Everyday Vacay Coconut Setting Powder, Ciate: $22- Another product I’m impressed with is this coconut scented setting powder. Using the brightening brush from above, I dusted my entire face with this product. I usually use a foundation powder to set my makeup, but I decided to try just this instead. When trying this product out, I did my makeup at 8 a.m. At 6 p.m., it still looked pretty good and my makeup was in place! If we’re being realistic though, I don’t think I would pay $22 for a setting powder. This $8 one from Maybelline works just as fine and does the same thing.
Facial Radiance Pads, First Aid Beauty:$17- This is the only skincare product that came in the box. These facial pads have lactic and glycolic acid to tone and brighten. I used these after I washed my face at night and found them to be extremely similar to a product I already use, the glycolic acid 7% toning solution by The Ordinary. Do I like them? Yes, but literally because I love The Ordinary product I mentioned above. However, I think these would be convenient to travel with and I would definitely consider purchasing these for an extended trip.
Day To Slay Eyeshadow Palette, Iconic London: $58- When I saw this palette, my first thought was how gorgeous it was but also, how I probably wouldn’t use it. These colors are stunning, but they are very similar to shades I already own. I made the decision to give it to my mom so she could gift it to someone. I can’t tell you about the quality of this product, but I will tell you that it’s a neutral girls dream and that in person, it’s huge!
