Scary Stories From My Readers

Scary Stories From My Readers

Happy October everyone! Spooky season is back again and I’m here to provide some Halloween content. I’m not completely sure if I’ll be posting something spooky-related each week but I will try!

I decided to start this month out by asking my IG followers about any paranormal experiences that they’ve had. Only a few people replied but it was enough for this post!

  • Whitney, Torrance

“In my old apartment, I either had a very vivid dream, intense sleep paralysis, or I had a paranormal encounter. I woke up in the middle of the night to something grabbing my feet and I saw a figure at the end of my bed. It didn’t go much further than that, but I was so scared.”

  • Reina, location undisclosed

“I once stayed over at my mom’s friend’s place when I was little and they had super tall ceilings (around two stories high). They mentioned that doors open and close randomly despite only two people living there. I ended up sleeping over that night and when we woke up, we saw a black handprint that’s the size of a toddler on the ceiling. Even a normal ladder can’t reach up that high, so that really spooked me.”

  • Elle, Pennsylvania

“After my dad’s grandpa died, my dad woke up in the middle of the night to see his grandpa standing in the corner of his room watching him..in the same clothes he was buried in. My dad screams “what are you doing here?! You’re dead!” and he said, “I come here every night, but I leave by dawn.” The next morning my dad is telling his family what happened, and when he begins to repeat what his grandpa says to him, his brother finishes his sentence and says “…but I leave by dawn.”

“My dad and his brother played with an ouija board when they were kids and it made their house so haunted. It tormented the fuck out of my grandma and she constantly felt like she was being watched. She’d wake up in the middle of the night with a crazy air force blowing in her face, the sink would turn on and off by itself, and smoke would come out through the basement door.”

  • Yanny B, Westwood (next to UCLA)

Unlike the others above, my cousin Yanny told me this story in person:

A few years ago, she was a student at UCLA. She and some other friends found an off-campus apartment blocks away at the last minute. It wasn’t perfect but it was their only choice. Yanny said that the building itself felt off to her immediately. It was very old and she believes it was an office building that was later converted into small apartments.

A small hallway leading to the bathroom felt strange and she could sense sadness and heaviness in the apartment. Although she could feel a presence, she never saw anything. Her roommate did though. According to Yanny, her roommate woke up one day to see a man wearing an old-fashioned suit. She felt like he was harmless but incredibly sad. They theorize that perhaps he worked in the building when it was an office and that he had killed himself.

Thank you to everyone who submitted their scary stories! If you want to read more spooky blogs, here’s a small list of a few I’ve written:
