Hi!

The Leslie Life is a blog dedicated to living in Los Angeles and travel. Enjoy!

Explore Anaheim With Me

Anaheim in Orange County known for being home to the happiest place on earth, Disneyland! Of course, there’s so much more to it than the legacy of Disney. Behind the castle walls, is a vibrant city that has plenty to eat and see.

Read on below to learn about what to do in Anaheim next time you’re in town!

Anaheim Packing District

Although I have gone to Grand Central Market in DTLA several times before, I had never gone to the Packing District until now!

This massive food hall is located in a former citrus packing warehouse. It’s historical, full of life, and has a great ambiance.

For lunch, I went with the Chippy Fish & Grill. At $10, it was very affordable and filling. I got one beer-battered fish and plenty of fries and a soda. Jenny went with The Kroft and got fried chicken poutine that was loaded and perfect for sharing.

However, they have plenty of food options, which you can all see here. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available. Because it was a hot day, we stayed indoors and it didn’t take me long to find seating for us.

  • The Anaheim Packing District can be found at 440 S Anaheim Blvd, Anaheim, CA 92805 and is open 11 am to 9 pm Sunday-Thursday and 11 am to 10 pm Friday & Saturday. A parking lot is available but is VERY crowded, it’d be best to park off-site.

Modern Times Cafe

Three blocks away from the Packing District, you’ll find the Modern Times Cafe. Yes, believe it or not, the cafe is inside this house!

Behind the house is a brewery called Leisuretown that is owned by the same company. From what I can tell, the cafe is actually a recent addition.

This was probably my favorite experience of the day just because the concept of it is so innovative to me.

Most, if not all of the house is open for seating. All you have to do is order yourself some coffee, tea, or kombucha (as I did) and find somewhere to sit.

The house is spacious and the cafe is very lowkey. Jenny and I were able to escape the heat and relax for a moment before we headed back into the blazing sun. I have no idea how old this house is but they renovated and decorated it beautifully.

  • Modern Times Cafe is located at 555 S Anaheim Blvd, Anaheim, CA 92805 and is closed Mondays but is open from 8 am to 2 pm Tuesday-Friday and 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday’s. Parking is available and is free.

RARE by Goodwill

I love thrifting and have gone to several stores around Orange County. One of my favorites so far is RARE by Goodwill.

Now, this is a little different from your average Goodwill. Items are for the most part, in better condition and higher quality.

Regardless, the pricing is still excellent. I found a shirt from Brandy Melville that was new for $10 and a few months ago, I found a lightly used bucket purse from Urban Outfitters for $7. Both Jenny and I love coming here and we always leave with something!
