Simping for Seattle Pt.2
In early April, I took a short flight from Los Angeles to Seattle to spend time with my close friend Adam. This trip was highly anticipated; I was originally supposed to go in February but Omicron, unfortunately, derailed my plans.
This was my second time in the Emerald City! My last visit was in June 2021. This time, I was able to explore more of Seattle’s diverse neighborhoods and visit a few places I had previously gone to.
I will be sharing with you all what I did for the few days I was there as well as some recommendations. Without further ado, let’s get into Simping for Seattle Pt.2!
Thursday, March 31: Dua Lipa concert
This is the day I flew from LAX to SEA! I was utterly exhausted by the time I got in at noon. However, this was only the beginning of the day.
Adam, his partner Aaron and their friend Seth and I went to see Dua Lipa in concert at the Climate Pledge Arena that same night. Thank you to Aaron for inviting me to the concert (my first in years!). Dua Lipa was amazing and the girl has pipes!
Friday, April 1: Bainbridge Island
On Friday, Adam and I went on a day trip to Bainbridge Island. I wrote a separate post about the experience so make sure to check it out!
Saturday, April 1: Pike Place Market & Queen Anne
I’ve previously visited the Pike Place Market; it’s a must-see in Seattle! Adam and I walked around, went into a weird gift shop called Orange Dracula, and took pictures in the photo booth. Our next stop was Queen Anne, a neighborhood in Seattle that is known for its historic homes.
We took a short bus trip and walked around the neighborhood for a few hours. I would love to own property in Seattle one day and was scoping this neighborhood out. With its quaint and relaxed feel, I think this is a great contender! PS the view from Kerry Park is said to be one of the best in Seattle!
Sunday, April 3: University of Washington, Fremont & Ballard
I started my final day in Seattle by checking out the Elliot Bay Book Company. Located in Capitol Hill (the same neighborhood that Adam lives in), this store is very well organized and probably has any title your looking for. That being said, I did not purchase anything from here because I prefer buying used books.
After that, Adam and I made our way to the UW campus to visit the famed cherry blossoms. I must say that my breath was taken away at the sight of them. The campus was gorgeous, it was raining, and the cherry blossoms were blooming; it was everything I wanted and more.
We took a bus and ended up in the Fremont area where I went book shopping at Ophelia’s Books, a small used bookstore that had exactly what I was looking for. Our day ended by getting dinner at San Fermo (more on it below), an Italian restaurant in Ballard.
Monday, April 4
My last morning in Seattle! I flew back to Los Angeles and safely made it home.
Restaurant and food recommendations:
I ate a lot of good food in Seattle! Although my list is small, it’s perfect for any foodie.
For sandwiches, try Honey Hole in Capitol Hill!
Craving a classic bowl of pho? Pho Saigon (also in Capitol Hill) is authentic AF
Cafe Turko in Fremont is perfect for a light snack or Mediterranean meal
If you’re looking for a fancy high-quality Italian meal, check out San Fermo in Ballard
That’s it for this blog post guys. Before I go, I do have some final tips!
If you’re from LA (like me), make sure to bring a thick jacket because Seattle is a lot colder than Los Angeles!
Public transportation in Seattle is cheap, easy, and effective
You can buy an ORCA card and use it for the bus or the light rail system
Try the tap water in Seattle (seriously), it tastes so good!
