A Day Trip to Bainbridge Island
Hi friends, I’m back! I spent the first few days of April in Seattle with my best friend, Adam. If you’ve read my previous post about Seattle then you know that I absolutely love this city.
Today, however, I will be discussing Bainbridge Island, as it was one of the first places I went to when I arrived. Bainbridge Island is a short ferry ride away from Seattle. It offers a small-town feel, amazing views, and a cottagecore essence.
Let’s start with how to get there! Adam and I arrived at the ferry terminal (the address is listed below) and purchased a $9 roundtrip ticket for our excursion.
Although I’ve been on boats before, this was my first time on a ferry. You can choose to sit wherever you please or to stand outside. The views did NOT disappoint!
I did end up getting a little bit of motion sickness but the ride is only about 35 minutes long, so it wasn’t too bad. Once we got off (the ferry drops you off in Downtown Bainbridge), we set off on our adventure! Our first stop was lunch at the very popular Pegasus Coffee House.
This quaint cafe is famous for its coffee (of course!) and for its simple, yet yummy food. I ended up getting avocado toast and It was superb and very affordable. If you ever take a trip to Bainbridge, this is a must-do! After lunch, we decided to take a walk.
Bainbridge is actually pretty big and has plenty of nature reserves. As we were on foot, we went to the closest park we could find; Hawley Cove. It took us about 20 minutes to walk from Pegasus Coffee to here.
A mild walk through the forest leads you to the beach to enjoy the views. Once again, I was enthralled with the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
I jokingly told my friends that I wanted to abandon everything to move here and write a horror novel. A girl can dream, can’t she? We then headed back into downtown to do some shopping.
We spent the last few hours walking around downtown and entering any store that suited our fancy. A few that we enjoyed included Town & Country Market (they had good snacks), Steepologie Teas, and Zutto Vintage & Antiques. We then got back on the ferry and headed back to Seattle.
Some final information & thoughts
Tickets for the ferry can be purchased online in advance or at the window when you arrive at the terminal
You can view the schedule for the ferry here
Adam and I walked on but you can take a vehicle onto the ferry
Overall, we had a great time and I definitely want to come back to explore more of the island!
Bainbridge was actually on my Seattle Wishlist, so I can check it off!
