A Summer Update

A Summer Update

Hi!

After a short hiatus, I am happy to say that I’m back! This summer has been incredibly busy. I celebrated my birthday, flew to Oregon, and played tour guide for my cousin Daisy, who visited me all the way from Mexico.

About three weeks ago, I wrote a post about my anxiety and how I was dealing with it. Unfortunately, this is something that I’m still grappling with. However, in between all that, I’ve been out and about and having a good time.

Here’s what I’ve been up to for the last few weeks:

  • I went to Disneyland & Universal Studios

As I mentioned above, my cousin Daisy stayed with me for a bit and I showed her around Los Angeles. One of our first stops was Disneyland! I am big into Disneyland and was a pass holder until 2020. I’m happy to report that she loved the park as much as I did and yes, we did eat beignets.

We also went to Univeral Studios with my dad and overall, had a good day. My personal favorite moment was going on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.

  • I spent time with family

Most of my days were spent with my mom (center) and Daisy (right). We went shopping, made dinner, and watched movies. Daisy actually returned to Mexico a few days ago but it was nice reconnecting with her as we hadn’t seen each other in more than a decade!

  • I read (duh)

Although I had work and family plans, I still managed to sneak in some time to read! Currently, I’m reading Picnic at Hanging Rock by Joan Lindsay. This classic novel centers on the disappearance of a group of school girls during a Valentine’s Day picnic in Australia.

If you’re looking for book recommendations, make sure to check out my Substack, Leslie’s Library.

  • I visited The Getty

I took my mom and Daisy to The Getty as a treat! It was both there first time there and although they did not care much for the art, they did love the sprawling Los Angeles views and the museum’s architecture.

  • I felt like a tourist in Hollywood

I of course had to show Daisy the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Chinese Theatre before she returned home to Mexico. As we locals know, it’s not glamorous and Hollywood is always so hot but it sure is special to see a little piece of history left in cement (such as Jean Harlow’s name above).

That’s all for today folks! Thank you guys for reading and I will try to post here more readily now that my days will be less hectic than before.

XOXO
