In just a few days, I will be fake graduating. You’re probably thinking, “Leslie, what does that mean.” It means I will officially be part of the graduation ceremony for the class of 2019, but I won’t be done with my Bachelors in Journalism until the end of the upcoming Fall semester.
In many ways, it is bittersweet. Most of the friends I made will be leaving and they won’t be part of my every day life anymore. Despite this, I also find that being at school for another semester is a blessing. During the Fall, I will be part of DIG MAG (a publication at my university) as a features writer-something I would definitely not be a part of if I was graduating this semester.
I am immensely proud of my friends for graduating and know that many of them will go on to achieve their dreams and I am proud of myself for being so close to the finish line. Everything happens for a reason and I am excited for what the future and the upcoming Fall semester has to bring. Let the fake graduation celebrations begin!
