What I'm Doing at Home to Keep Busy
Self-isolation is nothing new to me. I’m an only child and an introvert by nature. Hence, this is my time to shine!
I’m here to share with y’all what I have been doing to keep sane during this dystopian time. Hopefully, it’ll help you keep it together or give you new ideas. As always, stay healthy, stay safe, and please, stay home!
Reading: When I was a child, I could read for HOURS and finish two to three books a day. Now that I am an adult, I have grown to be rather illiterate. Well, it’s amazing how quickly that can change when you literally have nothing else to do. I’m sure you all have at least one book you haven’t finished. Pick it up and get to it! So far, I have finished “What We Talk About When We Talk About Love” by Raymond Carver and “The Abortion” by Richard Brautigan-two books that I bought a very long time ago and never got to finish until now.
Play The Sims 4: You may not be able to do anything but you know who can? Your Sims! In middle school, a majority of my time was spent being depressed and playing The Sims. Who knew that over a decade later, I’d be in the same position. I can play without realizing that 2.5 hours have gone by. It’s also on sale right now for $5 and you can buy/download onto your computer here. Get married, get divorced, have affairs, or have 10 kids; the world is your oyster with The Sims!
Netflix Party: My friend Sierra introduced me to Netflix Party, a chrome extension that allows you and your friends to group chat and watch Netflix together. Every few days, my friends Sierra, Dana, and I set a time to watch a movie together. It’s a lot of fun, think of it as a modern AIM chat. So far, we’ve watched “Freaks” and “The Little Hours”, two movies I highly recommend (especially since y’all have time to watch).
Riding my bike and taking walks: Listen, just because you can’t go out, doesn’t mean you can’t go outside. Riding my bike and taking walks has truly made a huge difference during this quarantine. I get a little fresh air and sun before I lock myself in for the day. Please be careful and take precautions when you do this. If you see a crowded area or don’t feel comfortable, leave.
Some other things I have been doing include…
Talking to my boyfriend on the phone nightly and group texting my friends
Going on TikTok for long periods of time (I did this before there was a global pandemic)
Watching “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness” on Netflix
Using my cousin’s Audible account to listen to audiobooks
Listening to podcasts (you can check out my favorite podcasts here)
Going on Duolingo to learn a little French
If you guys want some suggestions on what to watch on Hulu, Netflix, or in general, here are some blog posts I’ve written:

Before I go, I want to say that Americans are extremely overworked and exhausted. Please don’t feel like you have to do anything productive if you don’t feel like it. Do nothing if you want! This a pandemic people and no one (especially not me) is judging if you want to lay in bed and sit all day and watch Netflix.
Please continue to stay safe and sane and I will see you all next week with another post! Thanks for reading and I hope this helps!
