Let's Discuss Spring Cleaning
This past week, I was tasked with writing a blog for work about Spring cleaning. This got me thinking I should probably do my own cleaning as well.
Too often, we neglect ourselves and our rooms (which should be our sacred spaces). We are all guilty of this and it’s not because most of us are slobs; it truly takes a lot of mental energy and a push to get up and get it done.
Writing that post for work was mine and today, I want to be the push to help you tidy up your room, home, etc.
I live with my parents, so my sole focus is my very cozy & small bedroom. Let’s get into it!
Before:
This is my bedroom as it was when I got up a few days ago before I cleaned it. As you can see, it’s frumpy and I half-assed making my bed. I also have a few things scattered on it.
The rest of the items seen in the photo are always there (although they definitely could use some tidying up). Not pictured is my desk (also a mess) and dresser (it was pretty dusty).
After logging off work that day, it was time to get it done.
I want to be clear that was not an in-depth or thorough cleaning. What I mean by this is I did not get rid of any items or clothes. This is because I already did this not too long ago.
However, if this is something you haven’t done in a while, I encourage you to take the time to do so. If you don’t wear it or need it; donate it!
Of course, before we get into the cleaning itself let me list the items I used:
Vaccum
A rag/washcloth
Melamine sponges for my white furniture (pictured below)
Sprayway Glass Cleaner (I have a mirror door closet)
I also used a scented oil plugin to freshen things up and lit a Gardenia candle after I was done
Step 1:
Since I had just finished working, I decided to go ahead and clean my desk first
I have a small desk that is a bit crowded; I took everything off and used a melamine sponge (all you need to do is wet it) and a rag to clean the surface
Once my desk was dry, I neatly organized all of the contents as well as added water to the bouquet of flowers I also have on my desk
Step 2:
Next was dusting and using the melamine sponge and rag to clean my dresser, nightstand, as well as my bookcase (it also doubles as storage space and a second nightstand of some sort).
I also made sure to organize them and put anything away that was out
To finish off, I changed the letterboard I have hanging to something more seasonal (I also dusted the shelf seen below)
Step 3:
By this time, I was already close to being finished!
I changed my bedding (there’s nothing like sleeping on clean sheets!) and put the old bedding in with the dirty laundry
After, I opened my window to let some air in and let the fumes out from the glass cleaning spray I used on my mirror closet door
I vacuumed my entire room and proceeded to light a candle for the finishing touch
