I Visited a Head Spa; Here's What It Was Like

Hello all!

First and foremost, I want to apologize for my absence last week. I’ve been having a rough past few weeks and needed to take a break. Nonetheless, I am here today and I’m so excited to share with you all my experience of going to VHeadSpa!

I’m going to give you all the lowdown; what it is, where it is, and what I did.

Let me start with the beginning. A few weeks ago on YouTube, the video below came up on my suggestions.

Intrigued, I watched a few minutes of it and instantly knew I had to have a similar experience. The only problem? This video was filmed in Japan and I had never heard of a spa that exclusively gives scalp massages in Southern California or anywhere else.

On a whim, I pulled out my phone, headed to Google Maps, and put it “scalp massage”. To my surprise, VHeadSpa came up.

Located in Garden Grove (Orange County) in a nondescript building, VHeadSpa specializes in therapeutic scalp massages and according to their website, are the first and only type of their kind in Orange County.

I booked a 45-minute appointment online and a few days later, I was on my way to get my scalp massaged. Here’s what it was like:

Step 1:

  • Immediately after walking in and confirming my appointment, I was sat down in a private area that had a shampoo sink and chair

  • They asked me to take off my sweater and my belongings were put in a basket next to me

  • I laid back in the chair and pillows and blanket were placed on top of me

  • This was all very new to me so I just went with the flow

Just as an FYI, I was unable to take photos or videos of my experience but I did manage to take this awkward snapshot of myself moments before the action started.

Step 2

  • The session started with some aromatherapy that instantly made me feel relaxed and at ease

  • After placing my head in the sink, an Asian lady (who was very kind and didn’t speak too much English) began deep massaging my scalp with oil

  • After, she deep washed and conditioned my hair while she continued to massage my scalp

  • She would also, at times, massage underneath my scalp near my neck and I could feel her break the tension in my body

Step 3

  • The majority of the experience was spent on my scalp and hair

  • However, there was a facial massage and cucumber face mask

  • I did not expect this to be part of the treatment so I foolishly went wearing makeup

  • The facial massage felt exceptionally good; she gently tugged and washed my face

  • The cucumber mask was made with real cucumbers (not a sheet mask) and I could smell the freshness and feel the coolness

  • She also placed some hot towels on my face after the mask was done

Step 4

  • At this point, the massage was coming to an end

  • Before it was over, she continued to massage my scalp and rinse my hair

  • Once she was done, she wrapped my hair up nicely, sat me up, and proceeded to give me a neck and shoulder massage

  • Like most people, all of my tension and stress goes to this area of my body, so this massage felt incredibly good and relaxing

Step 5

  • When the neck/shoulder massage was over, I was lead out of the room to a salon chair and given some water

  • This is where you can get your hair blow-dried or styled

  • I opted out of the blow-dry, and instead, she toweled dried my hair and combed through it

Above is me moments after it was over and I felt pretty good and refreshed for the rest of the day. Somehow, my eyeliner stayed on despite the face massage and mask!

The scalp massage met all of my expectations and I would 100% do it again. That being said, let me explain the pricing for this experience.

There are different packages with different price ranges. All of those packages can be seen here.

I choose the “treat” package. This 45-minute experience is $65 without a blow-dry (and $85 with). I also tipped so all in all, I paid around $80.

If I’m being honest, this is definitely pricy. Regardless, I plan on doing it again sometime for a special occasion or to treat myself!

Summary for VHeadSpa:

  • Location: 8669 Garden Grove Blvd, Garden Grove, CA 92844

  • Hours: From Thursday-Tuesday, they are open 10 am-7 pm. Wednesday is open by appointment only.

  • Phone: 714 942 1841

  • Pricing: Ranges between $50 and $115 depending on the treatment you decide on

As a side note, I recommend you make an appointment to visit VHeadSpa. I’m pretty sure they do take walk-ins but you should call ahead before you head out to make sure they can accommodate you.

I was not paid to write this review nor do they even know that I am writing it; I simply wanted to share with you all an experience I paid out of pocket for myself that I thought was relaxing and in my opinion, worth it.

Alright guys that’s all I have for today thanks for reading and go treat yourself to a scalp massage!

If you want to visually see more of the experience, here is a video from VHeadSpa! If you have any questions about the experience, feel free to DM me!
