This past week, I asked my followers on Instagram to ask me anything. A few of you sent in some really good questions and Iām going to be answering them right here, right now!
This post is inspired by a Q&A I did last year, so make sure to check that one out as well!
Thank you to those who submitted a question; it means the world to me š. Without further ado, letās get into this Q&A.
Q: What is a film that you enjoyed that was critically panned? Give us some trashy recs.
A: Oh boy! Ok first and foremost, this is embarrassing AF but I am a huge fan of the Fifty Shades film trilogy. Anyone who knows me personally already knows this about me.
We get both Dakota Johnson & Jamie Dornan (bi-panic), the PNW, and a fantastic soundtrack. The acting is trash, the plot is trash and at many times, each film is problematic in its own way. Regardless, itās a guilty pleasure and each film in the series was unsurprisingly, critically panned.
A few other films I can think of include Knowing (2009) with Nicholas Cage, Dead Silence (2007), and As Above So Below (2014). I thoroughly enjoyed each movie but the critics did not!
Q: How do you find the places featured on your blog?
A: I find several places through TikTok; the algorithm really works! Most of the time though, I go on Google Maps, and I start browsing. Sometimes I have a specific area in mind, sometimes I just see where the map takes me. I love exploring and I love finding new places to visit (so much so that I wish I was paid to do so!).
Q: Whatās the best piece of advice youāve been given?
A: Truthfully, this is the hardest question to answer because I simply canāt remember š. Iāve been given wonderful advice by my friends and loved ones throughout my life.
I will say though that someone recently told me to never undervalue myself and I take that to heart in any circumstance, be it a relationship or even in a professional situation.
Something I have saved on my phone from a book says āeither forgive or forgetā. I know this is not advice given to me per se, but it really spoke to me.
Itās exhausting to carry anger, guilt, etc. over a situation or somebody that has done you wrong. So you can either forgive or completely move on, but donāt linger on it. As someone who can hold grudges, this is easier said than done but thatās why I saved the quote on my phone in the first place!
Q: Whatās your favorite place youāve been to in Los Angeles?
A: I had to really think about this because I think Iāve been everywhere in Los Angeles at this point. So far, I have found that visiting the Descanso Gardens, a botanical garden in La CaƱada Flintridge is one of my all-time favorite memories.
I wrote an entire blog post about it last year. The Descanso Gardens transports you to a place that doesnāt feel like LA; Itās calm and ethereal.
That being said, La CaƱada Flintridge also has a small-town feel to it that is very relaxed and quaint. I think if youāre looking to get in touch with nature or away from the concrete jungle LA can be, you should definitely visit!
Once again, thank you so much for those who took time out of their day to submit a question! I hope yāall enjoy this Q&A and I would love to do another one sometime!
