Hello everyone!
I have been on hiatus (being a hermit and whatnot). Still, I have decided to return briefly to write up a short article on the Kasama Rum x Filipinta Beauty collaboration.
Before Kasama reached out to me, I had never heard of them or Filipinta Beauty. However, I was delighted to learn that they are both woman-owned brands.
I have been gifted the collaboration and wanted to share it with you all. They have not paid me and all opinions are my own.
Let’s get into it!
Who are Kasama Rum and Filipinta Beauty?
If you couldn’t guess by their names, Kasama Rum makes rum, and Filipinta Beauty makes makeup that is adorable af! Both companies are run by women with Philipino heritage, and the Philippines and its culture inspire their products.
Take, for instance, Filipinta’s cookie tin lip balm (as seen below). Similarly, Kasama has a tropical aesthetic to pay homage to the Philippines.
Kasama’s founder Alexandra Dodra and Hana Acabado from Filipinta joined forces to create three lip glosses that fuse their love for the Philippines with an edgy twist; the lip glosses are all inspired by alcoholic drinks.
The glosses:
The collaboration comes with three different glosses. The flavors include Strawberry Daiquiri (pictured on the right), Piña Colada (center), and Rum (left).
Price: $35
My thoughts:
The packaging of both the rum and the glosses impressed me. It’s colorful, fun, and gives off summer vibes. That said, I will save the rum for a special occasion.
As for the glosses, the formula is hydrating and not too sticky. They smell like their namesake and leave my lips plump and juicy. My personal favorite is the reddish brown shade that is aptly named rum.
Do I think $35 is expensive for lip gloss? Honestly, yes. However, the glosses come in a package of three, and I have to consider that Filipinta is a small business. A lip gloss from Fenty Beauty is $21, so in hindsight, three for $35 is not a bad deal.
