Tiktok Made Me Buy It: Maybelline Sky High Mascara
Hello to you all! As you can tell by the title, I’m going to talk about the brand new Maybelline Lash Sensational High Sky Mascara.
As I have mentioned several times before, I am a TikTok fiend. After seeing multiple people review and rave about this mascara, I knew I had to try it.
However, it did take me some time to find it! When products go viral on TikTok, whether they be clothes, bags or, makeup, they tend to sell out until the hype goes down.
Nonetheless, I was committed to having it. Mascara is probably the one makeup item I can’t live without and although I don’t recommend you do this (it’s wasteful, I admit), I tend to have and use multiple mascaras at once.
I went to two local targets where both display stands were promptly empty. I went to a nearby CVS and I found ONE mascara left. The downer? It was the waterproof version and I am NOT a fan of waterproof.
Before I get into the review, I want to tell you about my eyelashes so you can keep that in mind before deciding to try the mascara for yourself.
My eyelashes are quite big but most mascaras weigh them down. I find it pretty difficult to find a mascara I like that does not do this. I also curl my eyelashes.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara Review
(Note: This is for the waterproof version in the shade brownish black)
Claims:
To deliver full volume and length
The exclusive brush will reach every angle
It’s infused with bamboo extract and fibers so lashes never get weighed down
Price:
Ranges anywhere from $9-$12 (the regular and waterproof version cost the same)
Target and Walmart have it for the lowest price
Drugstores like CVS or ULTA have it for more
First impressions:
The packaging is sleek and pretty
The wand is distinct and I can see how it’s supposed to hit every angle so each lash is given volume & length
Although I purchased the shade “brownish black” (not by choice but because it was the only one), it does not look any shade of brown
The darker the mascara the better in my opinion so this was not a problem for me, (however, this might be an issue if you’re looking for something more brown than black)
Thoughts:
I realized almost immediately that this was a thick formula and I feared that it would clump my lashes together
Surprisingly, that did not happen
As you can see from my TikTok above, my lashes were lifted and given plenty of volume
Here is the catch though, it does give the lashes a crunchy feel which I am not a fan of
I realize this could be because it’s waterproof so the washable version of the mascara might not have this problem
Besides the crunchy look, it keeps my lash lifted and perky throughout the day with no flakiness
Final verdict:
I’m going to give the Waterproof version of the Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara a 7/10
I find the claims it makes to be true; you’re given excellent length and volume that stays put
My only qualms have to do with the crunchy feel (but some people are a fan of it)
That being said, I would not purchase the waterproof version again but I would definitely buy the washable version
